Student Catalog
Hopefully, this catalog gives you a good idea of what PFTA Schools has to offer. If you have more questions, please feel free to CONTACT US.
Personal Trainer Certification
Personal Trainer Manual
You will get your e-book as soon as you enroll. You can start learning muscles and exercises on the first day.
Hands-on Gym Training
You won't receive your certification until you complete the gym training. We have classes every 4 to 6 weeks. Choose 1 or more gym training sessions. Keep coming until you feel comfortable training on your own.
Live Classes
After every gym class, we hold a live seminar. We will go over some key points in the manual and we won't leave until all the student questions are answered.
Video Lectures
You will also have access to video lectures on your first day. The videos cover the personal trainer manual and gym exercises.
Flash cards
We have online flash cards for the students. Some students find the flash cards the best tool in terms of studying for the exam. Please take advantage.
Practice Quizzes
You will have a practice quiz after each section. These questions are pertinent to your learning and will get you ready for the final exam.
Personal Trainer Exam
At the end of your studies, you will take the personal trainer exam. You will receive your certification as soon as you complete the gym training and pass your exam...in any order.
T-shirt
Wear your PFTA personal trainer shirt with pride. Once you get certified, you can start helping people reach their goals too! Your first shirt is on us!
Sports Nutrition Certification
Sports nutrition manual
Once you complete your personal training class, it will be time to start training as a Sports Nutrition Specialist. You can now start studying nutrition and all the subjects that will make you a nutrition expert.
Macronutrients
You will learn about fats, carbs, and protein. We dive into how many calories each macro gram provides plus we'll talk about your needs depending on your goals.
Micronutrients
You will also need vitamins and minerals in your diet plan. We'll talk about the major micronutrients your body needs and where you can find them.
Supplements
Many athletes also use sports supplements to get the most out of their workouts and nutrition plans. We will dive into the most effective sports supplements and which supplements aren't worth your money.
Metabolism
It all starts with estimating your metabolism. Before you start meal planning, you'll need to estimate your metabolism. Once you have a good idea on metabolism and goals, then you can start counting calories, fats, carbs, and protein.
Meal planning
Speaking of counting calories, in this section, you will design sample diet plans depending on metabolism and goals. Each individual will need their own plan and after absorbing this section, you'll be able to help all your clients including yourself.
Live classes
Just like our personal trainer classes, we also have nutrition classes. After the gym workout, we go over the key points in the notes and go over a few case studies. Once again, we don't leave until all student questions are answered.
Quizzes
Just like the personal trainer quizzes, these nutrition quizzes will keep you on track and will assure you are ready to pass the final exam.
Grocery bag
Now that you know everything about meal planning, you can take your PFTA canvas bag and get you some groceries. We like to reward our students with cool PFTA swag.
Sports nutrition exam
At the end of this section, you will be taking the Sports Nutrition exam when you are ready. Once you pass the exam, you will be awarded the Sports Nutrition certification.
Master Trainer Certification
Master trainer manual
After you've conquered nutrition, it's time to dive into the deep science of master training. Open your third manual and start learning.
Sliding filament theory
Let's go deep into the muscle and discover what makes a muscle contract. To complete the action we'll start from the nervous system and end up in the microfilaments of the muscle.
Energy systems
Where do you get all that energy to work out? In this section we'll talk about several energy systems and also tackle workouts to enhance each energy system.
Endocrine system
We'll teach you how your body adapts to resistance training and cardiovascular training. The endocrine system controls your testosterone, growth hormone, and a few others.
Sport psychology
Your mind is a powerful thing. In this section, we'll talk about goal setting and motivation. Hopefully, you and your clients will be highly motivated shortly thereafter.
Special populations
Not all of your clients will be perfectly healthy and ready to work out. Some of your clients are going to have physical or medical issues you will need to work around. We'll cover most of those special populations.
Advanced assessments
You'll learn how to assess body fat, muscular strength, flexibility, endurance, and a few others. Then we'll show you how to present these numbers to your clients.
Business 101
Whether you work for a large, corporate gym or you choose to work for yourself, it's always handy to have some business knowledge. We'll give you the ins n outs of both!
Practice quizzes
Just like the first two certifications, you will have practice quizzes to keep you on track for your master trainer certification. These quizzes will get your ready for the final exam.
Live classes
Live classes are important. We cover the major points in your notes, go over a few case studies, and answer all the student questions. But first, we always start off with some gym training.
Master trainer exam
This is the hardest of our three exams. You will be challenged but we will also give you the tools necessary to pass the master trainer exam.
NCCA accreditation
Once you pass our three exams, we will sign you up for the accredited exam. Feel free to go over all the material again because this exam covers everything you have learned in our three certification programs.
